Neon strands form the body of a series of viewer-responsive Chinese knots, offering a glimpse into the far past, intersected with the neon signage style popularized during the 1920s-60s in the United States. Tradition and modernity are melded to evoke a strong sense of nostalgia for the past, while being confronted with the future - a reflection of the challenges faced by first and second-generation Chinese immigrants as they struggle between assimilating and losing their native culture.
